I am starting something new and if you are reading this ...welcome to fbp!
My name is Gina and this is my blog — it is called FrissonbyPlay.
If you are unaware of what frisson is, it is known as the sensation one feels, such as aesthetic chills or psychogenic shivers brought on by stimulating or positively valenced affective states from music, movies, stories, people, photos, or even rituals.
In my lifetime, this is a sensation I am so comfortably familiar with. I thought I was just like everyone else that loved music. However, I found that I wasn't like everyone else – or at least those in my certainly very small circles.
I found that I could jam or chill to any type of music and feel such a deep connection to any and every type of instrument — finding the beauty in each melody, chord, or note.
Growing up, being a singer and playing drums is what I aspired to create for my future reality. Unfortunately, I never followed through with either of those plans. I have a decent voice, can carry a tune/rhythm, and never shy away from singing out loud.
"When I feel it, I do it"
In my career, I have started over time and time again. Learning the ins and outs of the companies I work/ed for — excelling at each level and each position. The thing about it all is that I was never truly fulfilled. I always wanted to do something for myself where I could be unapologetically myself…to geek out on subjects that bring me life, laughter, and reasons to breathe.
In another post, I will be getting a little more candid about my musical history and journey, but for now, I wanted you all to get a glimpse of who I am, why I am starting this blog, and what I intend to do with it.
It seems fitting to publish this blog on Valentine’s Day because through this blog I intend to share love in the forms of humanity, nature, the universe, and art in all of its incandescent expression through music.
When I find artists, bands, or groups that I enjoy thoroughly, I devour them and try to learn as much as humanly possible about them and their music. I suppose due to my lack of stick-to-itiveness I find that I admire those who have stuck it out and who have realized their dreams and purpose in life and went full steam ahead.
I plan to use this medium to showcase bands, artists and shows that spark that insane itch to learn more and geek out on, new and old music alike.
This is no polished lit-degree of writing you will find here.
I am a passionate creative and speak from the heart.
Experience the music I love the way it flows through me to my fingertips.
I also plan to create a community and hopefully, you love music the same and want to join - however, for now, I need this project to come to fruition.
